Why does my RV battery not hold juice?
We received a question from an RV Repair Club member asking why their RV battery wasn’t holding any juice after a full charging cycle. While the problem of an RV battery not charging typically stems back to one common issue, there are a handful of other possibilities.
What should I do if my RV battery is not charging?
With this idea in mind, Dave talks about the difference between a static fill (which can lead to sulfation, deteriorated terminals, etc.) and a multi-stage charge. He also gives you tips for testing battery capacity and describes what you should do with one/both of your battery’s solenoid (s) when a 25-amp draw reveals the battery has zero charge.
Why is the battery on my ALINEr not charging?
There will be a slight draw on the batteries from the radio presets and engine CPU for the engine battery, and a draw from the LP leak detector so it’s good to isolate those. My battery on my aliner is not charging after I drive with it all connected to my destination. The battery itself was tested and is chargeable.

Do you still need battery power when dry camping?
A refrigerator that works off of propane will still need battery power when dry camping. The refrigerator still has electronic components to operate the front panel off/on switch, temp control. Same with your microwave, your MW has a clock and still will pull power from your batteries when dry camping.

Can a lead acid battery be replaced in an RV?
Basically, they don’t recharge as well as flooded lead acid batteries. The process to recharge is much slower, and if they are overcharged, it can cause permanent damage to the battery’s cells. However, gel type batteries are being largely replaced by another kind of VRLA incorporating a fiber glass Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM).
Why is the battery on my RV not charging?
If you check the batteries with a multimeter or voltage meter an hour later, they should still give you the same fully charged reading. If the voltage numbers are going down, then it’s likely a battery problem. Most of the time you will need to replace the problematic battery.
Why are Xantrex batteries not charging while connected to shore power?
If there is power coming in from the campground supply, and the batteries are still viable (i.e. will take and hold a charge), then we will need to figure out why the Xantrex isn’t getting the batteries charged up when connected to shore power. However, I’ll bet the answer is either #1 or #2. Let’s focus first on 1 and 2.

Where is the battery on a 5th wheel RV?
On 5th wheels the battery is usually located in the front or side storage compartments. If it is not there, I would check under the stairs and underneath the rest of the RV. Some manufactures would put them in a box that is mounted to the frame and can only be accessed by crawling underneath the unit.
