What to do if your GM converter does not light?

If the tester does not light, then check for 12 volts by the regular method. Check for 12 volts at both sides of the fuse. Locate the fuse box and the fuse marked “gauges” (most models). Connect the alligator clip of your test light to ground. Turn the ignition on.

When does the converter disengage in a car?

This allows the converter clutch to apply when hydraulic pressure is correct. The TCC is very similar to the clutch in a manual transmission. When engaged, it makes a direct physical connection between the engine and transmission. Generally, the TCC will engage at about 50 mph and disengage at about 45 mph.

Can You unplug the solenoid on a GM converter?

Generally, if you unplug the TCC solenoid at the transmission and the symptoms go away, you have found the problem. But sometimes this can be misleading because you don’t know for sure if it’s a bad solenoid, dirt in the valve body or a bad signal from the ECM.

How do I know if my RV converter is bad or working?

When troubleshooting the RV converter’s diodes, make sure to understand in which direction the current is flowing. If they give you a reading, it means Diodes are working fine. But if you don’t get the reading, it is likely because a diode has burned out. You can determine this if you see a white acidic residue near the diode.

Why is my power converter not working properly?

Thanks for viewing the RV Distribution Center Troubleshooting video and posting the question regarding your low 12-volt power issue. Your husband is probably right, the batteries are not getting charged properly which could be due to the converter, low voltage coming from the campground, and even weak batteries that will not accept a charge?

What happens when there is an intermittent electrical problem?

If an electrical component has failed, or there is an open or a short in a circuit, you can usually find it fairly quickly because it isn’t hiding from you. It’s a persistent fault that can be isolated by a systematic process of elimination. Not so with intermittents. Chasing intermittents is like chasing ghosts.

What to do when your lights are intermittent?

If an intermittent is affecting the operation of several different components (say the interior lights, wipers and horn), you may discover that they all share a common power supply or ground. This can save you the time of trying to disconnect and check each component individually.

Can a dirty battery impede a power converter?

Dirty batteries can seriously impede the charging circuit and can and will draw voltage directly off the battery. Good luck. We have a 2009 Forest River Salem Travel Trailer that is parked year round at a resort wtih 30 amp service.
