What causes toilet to clog in 5th Wheel?

Clogs are common in all types of toilets, making clog removal the first step in cleaning out your 5th wheel or motorhome’s septic system. A clog can happen anywhere from the pipes beneath the toilet to the sewer valve at the exterior of your rig.

What to do if your RV toilet keeps Flushing?

Remove the cover on the foot pedal and you should see the roller valve. Apply some dry silicone to the roller while moving the pedal up and down. This fix has worked in the past but isn’t a guarantee and you might have to repeat the process now and then. Some Thetford models have a plastic pin that can get stuck during flushing.

Why is the hand valve on my RV toilet not working?

It could have calcium or lime buildup. Otherwise you will need to take the plastic cover off the foot mechanism and the lower plastic shroud to gain access to the valve assembly. There you can see if it’s just sticking or the spring has broken or come loose. I have a Thetford toilet with the hand valve lever to rinse and flush.

Why is my dump valve on my RV not working?

Alternatively, storing your RV for long periods of time can cause the material in your RV’s dump valve to dry out and become stiff and difficult to open. Or cracked and not able to seal properly.

Why is my toilet half full in my RV?

From time to time you may encounter an issue with your RV toilet, such as when the seal doesn’t seem to want to close completely, which results in a half-full or empty basin.
