You do not need to tell Flickr if you are single or not, you can use different settings or use privacy settings to keep it completely secret.
There are a lot of people who meet on Flickr, especially regional groups, who come together to exchange opinions and suggestions. Certainly some will become true friends and others will get along well. I used the Cornwall group to find many other photographers and true friends. So I headed north and joined the People's Republic of Teside and many other friends and participated in exhibitions in Middlesbrough.
I know many people who are now married and have met on Flickr. I am one of them. But using it as a dating site is a FAQ and a rule of thumb.
It's okay to use it as a way to meet other photographers, dating is common, but it's nice to meet other people.
