Can I backfeed my house with a generator?

Backfeeding is a dangerous and possibly illegal way to power your home by connecting your generator to an appliance outlet (like a dryer outlet) and allowing electrical power to flow in reverse. Using backfeeding to restore power to your home is dangerous because electrical loads are not balanced.

What does the transfer switch 30 amp do?

The Go Power! Transfer Switch-30 amp (TS-30) provides automatic power switching between two separate 120 volt AC input sources, including power cords, onboard generators, or onboard inverters. The TS-30 will sense the presence of available power supplies and automatically select the proper one.

Why is the transfer switch on my No 110 not working?

Next time started genset, the same issue as shorepower – no 110 with generator, either. Park checked the post and did change out the 30amp breaker and plug as they said they were weak. When you turn on the breaker or start the genset, you do not hear the “click” now of the transfer switch.

Can a loose wire cause a transfer switch?

If you have power where the shore power cord comes into the coach and those connections look good, but not at the main breaker panel, that pretty much leaves the ATS as the likely suspect. Yes, a loose wire or connection would give the same symptoms.

Where is the transfer switch on a 30 amp coach?

This is a 30 amp coach. As far as “opening the lid” to the ATS, it is located under the fridge, behind all the 110 breakers. You have to dislodge those and move them all out of the way, then try to remove a cover …over our heads. And with the 4th holiday, can’t get anyone out here.

What should the voltage be on a transfer switch?

Calibrate your meter to 600-volt AC setting and examine incoming shore power between the red and white, black and white, and black and red wires inside your Automatic Transfer Switch box. When hooked to the pedestal electricity and the circuit breaker for the pedestal is on, it should read around 120-volts AC from white to red and white to black.
