Biochips

Biochips refer to a series of technologies that fuse semiconductors and life sciences together. The most common form is based on a series of molecular sensors located on a small surface, commonly known as a lab chip. The mechanism is based on microfluidic microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology. These devices are used to analyze biological elements such as DNA, ribonucleic acid and proteins, as well as certain chemicals.

Meanings of Biochips

1. A microchip made of biological macromolecules (particularly DNA) rather than a semiconductor.

2. An identification chip that is inserted into the flesh of an animal.
